Concord, N.H. – November 8, 2014 – Amy Gowell Drogue of Barnstead won the state Young Farmer Discussion Meet at the New Hampshire Farm Bureau annual meeting yesterday. The competition is designed to simulate a committee meeting where discussion and active participation are expected.
Four Young Farmers discussed the concept of a livestock insurance program as well as addressing food insecurities with modern technologies. The competition enables participants to build basic discussion skills, develop a keen understanding of agricultural issues and explore how groups can pool knowledge to reach consensus and solve problems.
Participants are evaluated on their ability to exchange ideas and information on predetermined topics. “It is a privilege to have won,” said Amy. “And I’m proud that I will be representing New Hampshire at the national competition.”
In addition to an expense paid trip to San Diego, Amy received a monetary prize thanks to Achille Agway.
