Young Farmer Receives Kubota as Prize

HOLLIS, N.H.  –  It’s a good day when a shiny new tractor shows up in your field, especially when you’re a farmer. Recipient of the 2013 New Hampshire Farm Bureau Federation Young Farmer Achievement Award, Trevor Hardy took possession of the final portion of his winnings today.

Hardy works with his family at Brookdale Fruit Farm in Hollis and was thrilled to receive the keys to a new tractor from Kubota Regional Sales Manager for New England Larry Curran and Mike Snide of Pinnacleview Equipment. “I’m excited about trying it out,” said Hardy. “I’m planning on using it primarily for zone-tilling and harrowing.”

Hardy was awarded the Achievement Award at the state Farm Bureau annual meeting last November. The award is designed to acknowledge and celebrate those who make their living from the land.

The award winner receives the use of a Kubota M135GX tractor for six months or 250 hours, whichever comes first. Hillsboro County Farm Bureau President Sean Trombly was also present and expressed gratitude towards the Kubota Young Farmer award program.

This generous prize is made possible by Kubota – Tractor Corporation and Pinnacleview Equipment in Walpole. They have been presenting tractors to New Hampshire Farm Bureau Federation Young Farmer Achievement Award winners since 1992. “We are happy to support the Young Farmers,” said Curran. “And we look forward to continuing the program in the coming years.”

New Hampshire was the first state to begin the partnership with Kubota.  “We are proud supporters of the Young Farmers and enjoy being part of this award program,” said Snide.

Contestants for the Achievement Award must be between the ages of 18 to 35, members in good standing with their county Farm Bureau and actively engaged in farming with the majority of income coming from production agriculture. State winners are chosen by a panel of judges that base their decision on growth and progress of the farm as well as Farm Bureau involvement.
