NEW ENGLAND COLLEGIATE DISCUSSION MEET
September 29 at 6:30 p.m.
University of NH, Durham (Cole 219)
Young producers (age 18 to 35) understand that they need to be responsible for preserving agriculture and the environment on a state and national level. The Young Farmer program offers young people an opportunity to develop leadership skills and legislative awareness on issues that impact the industry.
The following questions will be discussed:
1- Government has always been involved in agriculture. Is the
current level of government involvement a net hindrance or a net benefit
to agriculture?
2- How will food movements such as “foodie” and “locavore,” which are focused primarily in urban centers, influence national agricultural production and federal programs?
Those interested in participating in the New England Collegiate
Discussion Meet should view the brochure and/or contact the Young Farmer
Coordinator, Maureen Duffy (603-224-1934).
